Eat up another contract on a goalie with hardly the room for them all now. Good thought but no thanks.

I like the idea, but the only issue is I wouldn't pay him 3mil. .

Flames have $7.6M available now, and (when) Kiprusoff retires, they will have $13.4M with everyone signed.

I don't get it. Why create an issue, with thing seemingly bright in the near future.

Terrible waste of 3M .
He can't stop a beach ball, is a total flake and would not serve the team well int he dressing room.
Why not just roll with two of the three expected at camp, take your lumps like the rest of the team is going to all year and save 3M.

Last interview he had overseas he said...

Finnish correspondent Juha Hiitela reported Kiprusoff informed his country's national team of the decision.

"If Calgary has not announced it, you guys can do that," Kiprusoff is quoted as saying.

Not sure why CALGARY hasnt made it official yet.

Unless Monahan and Seiloff make the team it's 46.

Because he didn't fill the official papers, but who knows if he'll ever do that anyway.

Again....Kipper to be removed, possibly Joey Mac, they would be fine if this "option" was entertained.

Maybe it's wishful thinking, but something tells me that Berra may be the surprise of training camp. I'd rather go with what we have than throw money at a 4th and notably streaky tender...

For those interested, a nice little write up by Corey Pronman on the Flames prospects.

Stay the course this year until the 3 guys you have prove they can't play

At this point at least it seems pointless. The guys we have signed need playing time. The only way I see this being worth while wojld be if CGY goes something like 0 for 20 to start the season and Ramo, Berra and JMac are a complete embarrassment. Bring in Bryz to save some face I guess.

Otherwise, the only players CGY should be looking to brkng in are young guys with good upside that help fill possible rolls or some vets that aill sign short term contracts that could possibly be flipped at the deadline for young assets or picks.

I am not sure about Bryz, but i get what Colin is saying.

For this year i would let Ramo and Berra try to see if they have the stuff of a #1 gaoltender. If one of them do, then the flames can ride that goalie out. If neither show anything, i do believe the flames will look for a #1 next summer. The infux of youngsters is probably going to start in 2014/15 season. I don't see the flames allowing the youngsters to lose confidence because Ramo/Berra can't stop a beach ball. They will need to get someone in, like a Bryz, until Gillies is ready, which could be 4-5 years away.

I am not sold on the "2 best goalies outside the NHL", but i do hope one of them becomes a #1. I would hate to see the flames have to give up prospects and picks if they can't find a #1 on the UFA market.

What indications do you see of Berra being any good? He'll never be a nhl goaltender as far as I can see. Wishful thinking I guess.

Joey Mac is a career grinder of a backup. He gives you a 900 save % even playing for some poor defensive teams as a starter. He will not lose games for you. With the future in the wings, why bring another Basket Case and mess with the plan as it stands. And add to your cap.

If he wasnt such a dressing room cancer maybe. I think the Flames are better off with a less talented goalie who will work his ass off for the team rather than someone with Bryz's talent who seems to only really care about himself. That may not be true, but that is the impression I get from any news story or interview with him.
